HushNotes is a personal tool sold once, at a personal price, by one independent developer. This policy draws the lines that keep that possible. It is part of the Terms of Use: breaking it is breaking them.
The licence is personal
One purchase covers you, on the Macs you own or control, as many as you have. Your licence key is yours alone: do not share it, publish it, or sell it. A key found on Macs that are not yours, or circulating in public, may be deactivated and the licence ended with it, without a refund beyond what your local law requires. The licence does not cover redistributing the app, reselling it, bundling it into another product, or standing it up as a service for other people. A copy bought from the Mac App Store, if we ever offer one, follows the App Store's rules instead, Family Sharing included where Apple enables it.
Use it lawfully
Do not use HushNotes to store, produce, or distribute content that is illegal where you live, or that infringes someone else's rights. Captured text is included: capturing is copying, and the right to keep what you copy is your responsibility.
MCP within reason
The MCP endpoint exists so your own agents, on your own machine, can read your own notes. It is not a database backend: do not build a hosted or multi-user service on top of it, use it to pipe notes around as commercial data infrastructure, or point it at someone else's notes on a shared Mac without their knowledge.
Don't break the app, or anyone else's
Do not reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app except where the law grants that right regardless of this policy; do not circumvent the licence key, the note lock on a machine that is not yours, or any of the app's protections; do not use HushNotes to carry or deliver malware.
Support that stays human
Support is one person reading email. Reasonable questions get real answers, usually quickly. Abusive messages, spam, and automated floods get none, and may be blocked.
If this policy is ignored
Violations can end your licence as described in the Terms of Use, including deactivating a licence key that is being shared. Unlawful use may be reported where we are required to report it, which, given that we cannot see your notes, would be based on what you show us, not on surveillance.
